Sr. Agnieszka Ewa Jarkowska SCdSC
Sr. Agnieszka Ewa Jarkowska SCdSC is a Capuchin Sister of Sacred Heart of Jesus, born in 1979 in Olsztyn, Poland. She holds a Master’s degree in pedagogy from the Catholic University of Lublin and completed postgraduate studies in the Organization of Social Assistance at the University of Marie Curie Skłodowska in Lublin. Sr. Agnieszka has also received training in domestic abuse, attachment disorder, and aggression replacement training. She holds a Diploma in Safeguarding of Minors from the CCP, Gregorian University in Rome.
Sr. Agnieszka has a wealth of experience in social assistance, having worked as a social worker, pedagogue, and director in an orphanage from 2007 to 2014. She has also volunteered with disabled children for many years. Since 2014, Agnieszka has been working with youth and families in Slovakia, where she currently focuses on victims of sexual abuse. She is a lecturer and project manager of safeguarding courses at the Catholic University of Ružomberok, Faculty of Theology Košice, in cooperation with the Gregorian University in Rome.
In addition to her work in education and prevention, Sr. Agnieszka is an active speaker and organiser of conferences on child sexual abuse prevention. She was a speaker at the first Conference for Prevention in Child Sexual Abuse in Slovakia in April 2019 and the Conference “Culture and Sexual Abuse of Minors” in Malta in June 2019. She is a member of the Child Protection Centre in Košice and the Episcopal Commission for dealing with child sexual abuse in Slovakia.
Sr. Agnieszka is also a lecturer on safeguarding for courses for religious in cooperation with Major Religious Superiors in Slovakia. She provides preventive workshops for teachers, laypeople, and clergy and advises on guidelines and best practices for institutions working with children. Her work with victims of sexual abuse and their families is grounded in her compassionate and holistic approach, which integrates psychological, spiritual, and social support.
